Why did you chose a Cape Parrot?: At first I was drawn to their happy faces and smiles. After doing extensive research I fell in love with their personalities. They are fun, goofy, excited, independent, but also love attention, the list goes on and on.

Sub-species: Fuscicollis

Weight: 325 grams

Amount of coloring & where: Coral on head and small amount on ankles. Brown head and neck and green body.

Shy or aggressive around strangers: Shy. She gets very quiet and still – sits like a little statue.

Talking ability: Excellent. She has already developed quite the vocabulary, which so far consists of “how are you?”, “hi,” “yummy,” what are you doing?”, “hey,” “come’ere!” and “I love you.”

How would you rate noise: Very quiet. She is much quieter than my parrotlet or budgie. Of course she is still very young, so that may change. She will contact call for me every now and then, like every other day, but stops after a minute or so.

How would you rate activity level: Full of energy! She loves to run and hop around, fly, climb, hang upside down, chase toys….

Likes to bathe: Loves baths.

How cuddly or affectionate: She isn’t too cuddly, but has her moments. Every now and then, and only when she’s very sleepy, does she allow petting and cuddling.

Territorial: Not yet.

Size and type of cage: A&E XL Macaw Cage – 48″ x 36″ x 72″

Favorite toys and perches: Any type of wood perches – she loves to chew on them! Especially harder woods.

Her favorite toys are wood beads – especially the ones shaped like beehives. Any foot toy made out of wooden beads is demolished in seconds.

She also loves her boing and crawling net.

What is the regular diet: Harrisons pellets, a nut and dried fruit mix, including a small amount of seeds. Fresh fruit, veggies and cooked foods.

Favorite Food: Cooked green lentils
