Why did you chose a Cape Parrot?: We had lost our senegal and were looking for a new bird and came across capeparrot.org and became very interested in Thor. So we purchased our first cape at 5months of age. Unfortunately he was very underweight and when he was 2 years old became very ill and passed away 2 months later from bone marrow cancer, according to the necropsy. 3 months later we contacted a more experienced breeder, and in July received Jupiter and he was the picture of health.

Hand Fed: parrot raised until down to 2 feedings then hand reared

Shy or aggressive around strangers: very friendly and gentle, loves head scratches. Says hello and asks “what are you doing” with new people

Talking ability: excellant. Jupiter lives at our boarding facility and can do every guests bird call with in a day or 2.

Likes to bathe: loves them!!!

How cuddly or affectionate: very cuddly and affectionate

Size and type of cage: aluminum 33w x 24 deep, also spends a lot time outside of cage

Favorite toys and perches: any and all, especially ropes to hang upside down on.

What is the regular diet: Harrisons high potency, doesn’t like regular, sprouts, baked birdie breads, snap peas, seasonal fruits and veg, cooked grains, pasta, seed mix, almonds, pistachos, walnuts, greens

Favorite Food: snap peas and homemade multigrain muffins, sweet potato and banana mush

Avian Vet or other Vet: Dr Jenkins, avian and exotic

Wings Clipped: No

Any Health Problems or Accidents: snapped end of beak off once and had to be taken to the vet to be dremmeled down and get pain meds for 3 days

Comments: We love our baby sooooo much. He is such a smart and good boy. Can be a stubborn little guy sometimes but what cape isn’t.
