Craig - I just set up this picture as wallpaper on my desktop. Hope you don't mind. It cracks me up everytime I look at it. Of course everybody else thinks it's a picture of a dead bird. hahahahaha!

: Hi Angelika,

: I can't tell you about the Greys or Senegals but I can tell you about the Capes. When I was researching my parrot purchase I had "cuddly and affectionate" at the top of my list. Every Cape owner told me that their Capes were very cuddly and that they loved their birds.

: My Cape Thor is more cuddly than I expected. What you have to be ready for with a Cape is not that it will be cuddly but that it will demand for you to cuddle it. Thor wants me to play with him all the time.

: Thor definately has an order of preference among his flock members. I am at the top and can do almost anything to him. Thor loves to be held and cuddled in just about every way imaginable. He is very gentle with me all the time. I play with him often and I play with him rough and to date he has never ever bit me hard enough to break my skin. He does occasionally get me with that little point of his beak so that it hurts but he doesn't mean to cause any pain. Lesser flock members have to move a little more slowly with him as he will occasionally lunge at them but once they have picked him up he will usually settle in and cuddle with them.

: If you get a well socialized Cape such as the birds from Scott Lewis or Jean Pattison you will get a bird that can be very cuddly but remember that it comes at a price. Cape Parrots are very intellegent birds and require a lot of time and interaction. Some people have called them the Cockatoos of Africa. They are truly wonderful birds and deserve truly wonderful homes.

: I have talked with a number of people who have Capes in multi-bird homes, they all say if forced to choose just one bird it would be a Cape.
