We have a 9 month old female Cape. She is quite energetic, playful, and extremely gentle. I'd say within the past two months she has started to be a lot more vocal(not meaning loud, just talking a lot more in her parrot language). Up unto that point, the majority of the noises she would make were beeping or calling when she wanted attention, and grumbling(I call it complaining) when she was playing with her toys or just at air(I think she sees ghosts). Now she is doing a lot of different whistle and clucks and variations of her parrot voice. Recently she started stringing them together. My wife and I just keep saying the same things we have been saying to her. I think her learning curve would be greater if she had other birds around, but we are a one bird household. Some of her brothers from another clutch who are still at the aviary she came from have started to pick up a few words, but they are surrounded by 20 different species of birds, most who are already talking. I think it will all come in time....
