You have to do the research and buy only from established and world known breeders SUCH as the Cravens
If you are shy about paying retail for the parrot,then having a parrot is NOT for you.
The purchase price is the easy part of owning a hookbill.
There are the monthly feed bills- which have risen at a sickening rate.
A yearly vet visit,which could be several hundred dollars.
Finding an appropiate place to live where your birds vocalizations won't disturb your neighbors will cost you.
A properly sized and equipped cage will cost much more than the bird.
Monthly replacements of toys could cost you big money.
If you start out being cheap as a bird owner,you won't be a bird owner for long and THAT is unfair to the bird who deserves to have a forever home.
If you have a big dream of being a bird breeder,well there are already established bird breeders who are selling their own breeder birds at a loss because THEY can't sell their birds anymore to the pet stores because a pet bird is a luxury nowadays in this economy. Anyone thinking of entering the breeder market right now is bonkers.
Leave to the folks who are already set up for it and have the knowledge and ethics to carry it out.
You know,there is one chance out of a million that that ad is legit,but look at the list of birds-many of them are difficult breeders. To have the amount of eggs available in each species catagory that the ad states is ridiculous...
For those who believe that eggs are still the way to go, reread the Cravens' post and commit it to memory.THEY know what they are talking about.
